The WZB Berlin Social Science Center conducts basic research with a focus on problems of modern societies in a globalized world. The research is theory-based, problem-oriented, often long-term and mostly based on international comparisons. Our research areas are: - Dynamics of social inequalities - Markets and choice - Society and economic dynamics - International politics and law - Dynamics of political systems - Migration and diversity - Political economy of development Around 200 scientists from various disciplines work together at the WZB, mainly from sociology, political science, economics, and law. They are supported by around 150 staff members in administration, IT, scientific information & data, and communication and by 115 student assistants. Research results are published for the scientific community as well as for experts in politics, business, the media and civic organizations. As a non-university research institute, the WZB is member of the Leibniz-Association. The WZB closely cooperates with Berlin universities. Its research directors also hold chairs at universities in Berlin and beyond. The WZB was founded in 1969 by members of the German parliament from the CDU/CSU and the SPD. The WZB is funded by the Federal government and the state of Berlin. The WZB is a founding member of Berlin Research 50 (BR50), the alliance of Berlin's non-university research institutes.

WZR ceramic solutions - we make the future of ceramics We are a R&D service provider in the field of ceramics: we investigate ceramics, we coat with ceramics and we do 3D printing of ceramics. 3D printing: We have all the commercial 3D printing processes for making ceramics in-house. We provide independent advice and find the best process for your products. We have 14 different 3D printers for manufacturing ceramic samples and parts. We use the following processes: Binder jetting, material extrusion (with filament, with CIM granulate, with paste), Vat photopolymerisation, material jetting and 3D screen printing. We develop recipes, optimise processes, do the complete process engineering and manufacture ceramic components. Our spectrum ranges from silicate ceramics and oxide ceramics to sophisticated functional ceramics. https://wzr.cc/en/3d-printing/ Ceramic testing: We examine all kinds of technical ceramics. This includes the physical as well as the chemical characterisation of your samples. We use scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) to evaluate the microstructure. For the mechanical characterisation we have different methods of strength testing and hardness testing at our disposal. Since many applications of technical ceramics are above room temperature, we also carry out various tests at high temperatures: Thermal elongation, hot bending strength, hot abrasion and thermal shock resistance. https://wzr.cc/en/testing/ ceramic coating: Under the label CerCoat® we offer the development and application of our ceramic coatings.
