West Texas A&M University (also known as WTAMU, WT, and formerly West Texas State), part of the Texas A&M University System, is a public university located in Canyon, Texas, a city of 13,000 approximately 13 miles south of Amarillo, Texas, a city of 190,000. Established on September 20, 1910, and originally known as West Texas State Normal College, the university started out as one of the seven state-funded teacher colleges in Texas. The university offers 62 undergraduate programs, 41 master’s programs and 1 doctoral program through its 5 colleges and graduate school. West Texas Centers is a community center which serves as the designated local authority for mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities for the counties of Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Fisher, Gaines, Garza, Glasscock, Howard, Kent, Loving, Martin, Mitchell, Nolan, Reeves, Runnels, Scurry, Terrell, Terry, Upton, Ward, Winkler and Yoakum. In addition to services for people with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Center is host to an Early Childhood Intervention program that is known as Little Lives ECI Program. This program serves children ages 0-3 years old.

West Thames College is a vibrant and successful college of further and higher education situated in West London, with a main campus in Isleworth and a smaller Skills Centre in Feltham.
