Founded in 1919 as the Springfield Division of Northeastern College, became Western New England College in 1951 and Western New England University on July 1, 2011. The present campus on Wilbraham Road was purchased in 1956 with the first building, today's Emerson Hall, opening in 1959.

New Mexico's public Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences university, Western New Mexico University serves the people of the southwest and the world with degree options ranging from accounting to zoology. Through both in-person and fully online courses, WNMU offers professional programs in nursing, social work, business and education and vocational training.

Western New York Energy LLC is a locally owned company that was founded in 2004 with the mission of developing the full potential of Western New York's renewable energy resources. Production at our $90 million facility immediately followed the completion of construction in November 2007. The plant is the first ethanol plant in the northeast United States. WNYE is located in Shelby, New York, United States.

With about 16,000 students, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) is one of the largest higher education institutions in Norway. The new institution offers a broad range of academic programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels. The ambition is to build stronger and more solid academic and research environments who will interact nationally and internationally. The aim is to become a visible actor on the international higher education arena through increased international cooperation and engagement in externally funded projects within education and research. Students at undergraduate and postgraduate level have access to high quality exchange opportunities abroad and staff-mobility is be encouraged. Because of the merger, a process of renegotiating all international agreements will start from 2017 as part of an assessment of existing international links and cooperation in the new institution.
