The mission of the Women's Fund of Rhode Island is to invest in women and girls in our community through research, advocacy, grant-making, and strategic partnerships designed to advance gender equity through systemic change. As a social justice organization, our focus is to end gender bias. We envision a community, nation and world where social justice exists for all, and we serve as a catalyst for persuasive, progressive and enduring social change. We believe that investing in women and girls is critical to creating healthy communities. Studies around the world show that when the status of women and girls improves, the status of the community improves overall. Over and over, experience shows that women are the key to economic development, educational attainment, health and well-being, and safety and security in communities around the globe.

To mark 100 years since some women achieved the right to vote, an all-female photography initiative is creating new portraits of all 209 women MPs, shot exclusively by women photographers. These will be displayed in a free public exhibition in Parliament, opening 100 years to the day that the first women cast their votes in the 1918 general election. The exhibition is curated by Hilary Wood (Founder/Director of 209 Women and photographer), Tracy Marshall (Director of Development and Partnerships at Open Eye Gallery), Cheryl Newman (Artist, curator and former Director of Photography of the Telegraph magazine) and Lisa Tse (Brand Consultant, TV Producer and founder of womens club The Sorority). 209 Women is delivered in partnership with Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool City Council, The Royal Photographic Society and The Sorority. The Women's Health Foundation has re-branded and is now called Below Your Belt. Please visit the Below Your Belt page to stay current on content and updates from our team. Below Your Belt, L3C, is a social enterprise established to inform, educate, and inspire girls from 3 23 to understand and own their pelvic health. BYBs first project is to take its award-winning and evidence-based content and create a digital platform for tween and teen youths and their grown-ups - their parents, teachers, and healthcare providers. Below Your Belt is creating a technology platform targeted to girls ages 10 - 14, based on the content from our multiple award-winning book, Below Your Belt: How To Be Queen Of Your Pelvic Region. Here is where we can pave the way for girls to experience pelvic health positively and actively - as well as shift the trajectory of pelvic healthcare costs of largely preventable issues. Pelvic health encompasses the parts of the body below the belt usually overlooked in general health and sex education classes. Bladder health, bowel health, ovulation, periods, hygiene, nutrition, and exercise all contribute to the health of the pelvic region. With a Below Your Belt app, a young girls comfort level with her own anatomy and its many functions will put her in the drivers seat of her health and wellness. BYB will give moms and daughters a way to talk to each other about sensitive topics such as leaking urine and chronic constipation. Girls will be able to track hydration, track periods (without an emphasis on fertility), find ways to alleviate cramps, make better food choices that support pelvic health, and engage muscles seldom if ever identified as helping in everything from sports to posture. Our published study reveals that a high number of girls experience symptoms of pelvic health disorders early on. The more they are recognized, discussed, and acted upon, the better quality of life a girl can expect to have as the grows into adulthood.
