For over a hundred years, the YWCA Central Virginia has been serving the women, children, and families of Central Virginia. Founded in 1912 by a dedicated group of women, YWCA Central Virginia has grown and adapted to meet the varying needs of the communities we serve. YWCA Central Virginia serves seven counties and one city, an area of 4,400 square miles with a population of over 400,000 community members. We currently host three key direct service programs: Domestic Violence Prevention Program (DVPP); Sexual Assault Response Program (SARP); and the Town Center Women's Residential Housing Program.

The YWCA Dayton has provided hope and the opportunity for a new beginning for generations of Dayton and Montgomery County residents during some of the most troubling times of their lives. YWCA Dayton offers a variety of programs and services including the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble Counties. The full range of programs and services offered by the YWCA Dayton include: affordable housing programs (HomeShare, SRO), teen services (prevention education, Girls Inc, walk-ins) and professional services including case management, group therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, hotline services, advocacy and economic empowerment programs.

We provide education and services to thousands every year through leadership programs, counselling, outdoor education, and supporting people with disabilities. Our purpose is to ensure the health, safety, and economic empowerment of women, children and families and to strengthen communities to prevent and break the cycle of domestic violence. We provide resources and support to survivors of domestic violence and their children and through our education and prevention efforts we empower women, girls and families to build healthy relationships, achieve self-sufficiency, and live free from violence.
