About Us Barnard & Westwood bestows a wealth of tradition and untold history, making the name synonymous with English excellence, unrivalled quality and outstanding service with the emphasis on real attention to detail. Barnard and Westwood was founded in 1921 when WW1 survivor Albert Reginald Barnard asked his Aunt, Miss Westwood, a noted teacher, writer and Suffragette, for help in setting up his own business. As the company grew in expertise, skill and reputation, Albert Barnard soon advertised for a business partner, and Secretary of the International Printers Association at the time, Eddie Kopley, bought into the business. His experience of European printing practises had taught him the wisdom of serving a niche market with high quality products and services. In the 1950s Eddie Kopley was joined by his son Austen who worked tirelessly to develop the company and was awarded a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen in 1985. In 1986 his son (also called Austen) joined his father in the family business. In 2003, with Austens son Austen now at the helm, Barnard & Westwood acquired Keypoint Bookbinding Ltd enabling the company to expand in areas of hand case binding, book restoration, perfect binding and bespoke presentation cases. August 2010 saw a move to our new home in Pakenham Street from where we continue to offer a bespoke service tailored to meet the exact needs and requirements of our clients. The Barnard Fire District is a combination career and volunteer fire district located in the Town of Greece, NY. This District borders the City of Rochester, NY and is a densely populated, primarily residential area. The Barnard Fire District provides Fire Rescue service and Emergency Medical Services, and is proud to be the only fire-based paramedic first response service in Monroe County. The District operates a single station that logs nearly 3000 runs annually with an average response time of under 4 minutes.

For 60 years, we’ve been part of communities throughout the motu. Today, our mahi across social services, early learning services, and advocacy for children’s rights and wellbeing contributes to Barnardos’ vision of ‘an Aotearoa where every child shines bright’. All children come comes into this world with their light shining bright. They have the right to grow up safe, loved, and with hope for the future, but the reality is that too many children and young people in Aotearoa are impacted by long standing social and family problems that affect their everyday lives. We know change is possible. We advocate to drive change at the systems-level, so that national laws, policies, practices, and institutions meet the needs of all children and tamariki, and respect, protect and uphold their rights. We offer early learning services to all under-fives, to create strong foundations for children’s educational and life outcomes. We provide social support services to children and whānau in our communities facing really tough times – including those who have experienced family violence, addiction, neglect and abuse, and those struggling with mental health issues. Our social services are a continuum, preventing problems before they get too overwhelming, to intensive help in the whanau home to help tamariki thrive, to also providing care for tamariki when it is really not possible to do so at home. Every day, we’re making a positive, long-lasting difference to children's lives. Because when tamariki shine bright, Aotearoa shines bright.

Lisensiert Mental Trener Birgit Semundseth har utviklet foreldrekurset Barnas Plattform. Kurset er utviklet med innspill og i samarbeid med psykologer, helsesøstre, barnevernspedagoger, lærere og barnehagepedagoger. Fra 2005 har Birgit startet og ledet selskapet Lifemastering AS et selskap som bl.a. har utviklet metoder og verktøy for å sette og nå mål. Lifemasterings verktøy brukes i flere land og har bidratt til at mange mennesker har realisert sine viktigste mål. Høsten 2009 lanserte Birgit Vektmestring med Tanketrening. Dette effektfulle kurset ga metoder og verktøy for å hjelpe mennesker til å endre vaner innenfor ernæring og fysisk aktivitet. Dette programmet brukes i dag hos Fedon Lindberg. Birgit har i flere år arbeidet for å innføre mental trening innen området fødselsforberedelse. I 2012 lanserte hun, sammen med jordmor Tonje Wessel Rummelhoff, nettkurset www.engodfødsel.no som brukes av gravide og deres partnere over hele landet. Våren 2014 lanserte Tonje og Birgit boken «En god fødsel Forbered deg med mental trening», Cappelen Damm. En god fødsel anbefales av mange jordmødre og ved flere av landets sykehus for at kvinner skal være godt forberedt til fødselen. Erfaringene viser at denne type forberedelse gir kvinner gode fødselsopplevelser! I 2010 startet Birgit, via foreldre, å teste ut verktøy som styrker barns selvfølelse og selvtillit. Etter to års utvikling ble kurset Barnas Plattform levert til foreldre i barnehager og skoler samt filmet og laget som et nettbasert foreldrekurs. Verktøyene i Barnas Plattform kjennetegnes av tre ting: De er enkle å bruke, tar kort tid å gjennomføre (maks 10 minutter daglig) og de gir gode resultater! I dag er Barnas Plattform kurset kun tilgjengelig via sertifiserte kursledere rundt omkring i landet.
