eyes open social media

e-learning

What's New? - Eyes Open Social Media have recently developed ONLINE COURSES to teach and empower end users and concerned carers. Eyes Open Social Media is a Brisbane-based company. We started developing programs over 4 years ago, to educate people about HOW to use the security settings on social media sites to better protect themselves, whilst still enjoying the positive aspects of fun and effective social media use. Our school program first educates parents, teachers and student on what the risks of social media are and what makes people vulnerable to these risks. We then offer hands-on workshops and/or online courses to teach you exactly how to use the settings provided on the most used social media sites to better protect yourself. The programs start at a very basic level to ensure that the fear of the unknown is taken care of first. Our workshops and online courses address the issues around: exposure to and creation of inappropriate content; creation of a damaging digital presence, that puts a person at risk or limits their future options; reducing the risk of identity theft; reducing exposure to bullying behaviours; and predator risk minimisation We also have a range of programs available for training staff and clients at community care organisations and hands-on and/or online courses for businesses to train their staff in: the appropriate use of social media; company expectations with regards to digital presence, branding and defamation safer use of social media, whilst promoting business concepts; and more! Talk to us today about attending a short course of the workshops that we put on, or running the series for your business, group, school or venue.

Eyesea

Eyesea is a nonprofit organization with a mission to map global pollution and maritime hazards. Without proper data on maritime pollution – what and where it is – effective solutions are hard to find. In 2020 we developed the concept of using geotagged pictures to chart (‘map’ for you landlubbers) maritime pollution. Funding and support have been obtained, and our mapping solution has been developed. Those who work and play on the ocean care deeply about its health and future. Seafarers, members of the public, recreational sailors, professional mariners, fishermen, surfers, and divers all have unique access to the coast, littoral waters, the vastness of the ‘blue water’ ocean. Anyone with access to the beach can keep an eye on its health. As a community, we can help map and identify pollution simply by taking a picture through the Eyesea App. Images are important because they are quick and easy to take, and because they have a strong impact.

eyeseeme project

nonprofit organization management

"If I can improve the life of one other person, then my life has been of value" - Rebecca Robyns EYESeeMe project was born from a love of photography and founded by humanitarian photographer Rebecca Robyns. Rebecca realised through her work documenting the lives of disadvantaged children in Southeast Asia that the children were both fascinated and curious about her camera and images and were keen to participate in their own story. In 2015 Rebecca set up this project which has worked in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Nepal. The children's images have exhibited in the U.K and used as both a means of creating awareness and to to raise vital funds for the projects they represent.  As a young charity, we are continually learning and expanding into new areas of research as well as trying to improve what we do. Our primary objective is to support children through education and to keep them safe so that they may enjoy a childhood free from suffering. With Burmese ancestry, Rebecca has strong links to this region and the welfare of its children.   We have 12 blue Nikon cameras that translate into over 30 different languages allowing everyone to learn very quickly.  The purpose of the class aside from taking pictures and learning the basics is to show how children can use their images as a form of story telling and a tool for social change.  The children that we work with have all had their challenges coming from some of the most traumatised backgrounds yet when given a camera they seem to stand taller and have real pride and joy in their work. EYESeeMe project has two active projects in Thailand and Bangladesh. Please get in touch if you would like to host an exhibition, talk about our work or support us.
