Free Women Writers is a platform by Afghan women that advocates for gender equality and social justice in Afghanistan. We started our work in 2013 by publishing "Daughters of Rabia"​, an anthology of Afghan women's writings edited by Afghan activists, Noorjahan Akbar and Batul Moradi. Later, Noorjahan Akbar created the Free Women Writers blog to publish women’s writings in Persian, Pashtu and Uzbeki. Since then, the blog has expanded to include hundreds of articles, poems, narratives and essays about women’s health and issues, environmental issues, economic inequality, democracy and other social justice issues and reached tens of thousands of Afghans on social media. In Afghanistan, where daily terrorist attacks, poverty and war, have led to the sustenance of a culture of violence and inequality, we hope to nurture literature and use our voices to fight terrorism, patriarchy and radical religious interpretations as well as unjust capitalism that may lead to environmental decay, economic inequality or dehumanizing portrayals of women in the media. In addition, we are aware of the fact that Afghanistan, in particular Afghan women, are misrepresented in Western media and often talked about without being listened to. We hope to challenge the one-dimensional portrayal of Afghanistan and Afghans at a global level by providing authentic Afghan voices. We firmly believe that the participation of women in the society is essential for progress in any field in our country. The education, security and true participation of women in Afghan society will not only be a victory for the women of our country, but will also have a tremendous impact on our fight against religious radicalism, terrorism, environmental degradation, economic inequality and corruption. I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program. My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
