Vår historie har opprinnelse i Stordal, ei lita bygd på Sunnmøre, i 1947. Familien Helland starter design og produksjon av møbler for å dekke etterspørselen i etter-krigstiden. Helland Lenestolfabrikk ser dagens lys. På slutten av 1960 tallet går Helland inn på det offentlige markedet. Grunder Johan Hellands filosofi var «Sakte opp og fram, aldri tilbake».
