Founded on May 18, 1949, with the guiding principle of "Creating a Civilized World," Kyung Hee University has stood as a beacon of scholarship and peace, creatively integrating academic excellence with practical engagement to contribute to a more peaceful global society. Over the past 75 years, the university has upheld its legacy as both a scholarly and social institution dedicated to advancing human civilization. During the Korean War, Kyung Hee temporarily relocated to Busan, but in 1953, it established its permanent Seoul Campus at the foot of Gohwangsan Mountain in Hoegi-dong, laying the foundation for its academic future. The university expanded further, opening the International Campus in 1979 and the Gwangneung Campus in 1984, fostering a comprehensive and future-oriented academic framework. Today, Kyung Hee University is one of South Korea’s leading comprehensive universities, home to 34,388 undergraduate students, 8,809 graduate students, and 1,378 full-time faculty members. It operates 23 colleges, 95 departments, and 15 graduate schools, continuing its commitment to academic excellence and global engagement (as of 2024).
