Established in November 2012 the Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) is run for local businesses by local businesses. It is a simple, tried and tested way of increasing economic prosperity for companies of all sizes through collaboration. The BID covers a defined area of Norwich where businesses plan how to improve their trading environment, identifying additional projects and services that develop the city centre and trade. Investment in the BID area aims to enhance and promote the local environment for businesses, employees and customers. Norwich Cathedral has welcomed visitors for over 900 years. The Cathedral is located in the heart of Norwich set in 44 tranquil acres by the River Wensum and continues to operate under the Benedictine principles of worship, learning and hospitality. The stunning cathedral is one of the finest examples of Romanesque buildings in Europe, with the highest Norman tower and largest monastic cloisters in England, and is steeped in history having survived riot, war, plague and fire. There is a Herb garden and Japanese garden to discover and the Cathedral Library is open to all, providing access to over 30,000 books. The Hostry, opened in 2009, combines old and new architecture providing a stunning venue for exhibitions, conferences, meetings, wedding receptions and private functions. The award winning Refectory Restaurant and Cafe is open to the public on a daily basis and also available for private hire and offers a spaces and airy place to meet combined with freshly cooked food, using local and seasonal produce. Located within the Nave, the Cathedral Shop contains a range of unique locally sourced products.
