The NSW Food Authority is the government organisation that helps ensure NSW food is safe and correctly labelled. It works with consumers, industry and other government organisations to minimise food poisoning by providing information about and regulating the safe production, storage, transport, promotion and preparation of food. The Authority’s activities include regulating 55,000 food businesses in NSW, investigating complaints and cases of food poisoning, operating a helpline, managing a partnership with local councils, coordinating NSW product recalls, and running consumer and industry information programs. The Authority is in the primary industries portfolio of The Hon Niall Blair MLC. Its head office is in the Sydney suburb of Newington. There are also eight regional offices: Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Queanbeyan, Taree, Wollongbar, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga and Wollongong.

The NSW Hire Car Association (HCA) is a recently formed association of hire car operators in NSW, created in June 2015. We are a group of small to medium sized companies along with individual drivers, who have come together and united to form the NSW HCA in order to secure a voice in the determination of our future. The NSW Hire Car Association is set up as a not-for profit Company limited by guarantee. Our Mission is to fight for the rights of hire car operators as small business owners, and provide advocacy to regulators and government decision makers on issues that affect our industry as a whole. Our primary concern currently is to lobby for our existence beyond 2020 and continue providing differentiated services to our client base. The Office of Local Government (OLG) is the NSW Government agency responsible for strengthening the sustainability, performance, integrity, transparency and accountability of the local government sector. OLG has a policy, legislative, investigative and program focus in regulating the State’s 128 local councils. The agency also works collaboratively with the local government sector to support local councils to deliver for their local communities. OLG, which is part of the Department of Planning and Environment, is the key adviser to the NSW Government on local government matters.
