SOS Childrens Villages works in more than 130 countries to support families and help children at risk grow up in a loving home. In a world filled with poverty, violence, and injustice, the greatest victims are often children. For more than 60 years, we have worked with partners in each community to either help families care for their children or to provide an alternative, for instance an SOS family, in which the love of a carer is essential. Everything we do is based on the best interests of the child, and each has an individual development plan. We focus on the care, health, education and general development of each individual. Uniquely, we provide practical support over the long term, so that each child or young person can develop resilient relationships and face lifes challenges in the future. In turn, this strengthens communities and the whole of society. We also speak up on behalf of children to governments and international organisations, striving to end violations of childrens rights and improve living conditions worldwide. To do everything we do, we need the support of partners and donors to give thousands of vulnerable children a loving home and a second chance just to be a child. SOS Childrens Villages has been working in Hungary since the 1980s. The work of SOS Childrens Villages has continued to grow due to the increasing number of vulnerable children in the country. The first SOS Childrens Village opened in 1986 in Battonya, and is currently running 8 programmes (SOS Childrens Villages, Youth Facilities, Short term care centre) thus caring for a total of 400 children and young people, ensuring that they grow up in safety and respect, becoming well-balanced and happy adults.

SOS Children's Villages admit children who have lost their parents or cannot live with their parents for various reasons and therefore are in need of a new and permanent home. The SOS Children's Village families provide this home, replacing the child's own lost family. SOS Children's Villages have set themselves the goal of bringing up orphans and abandoned children of all races, cultures and religions in the framework of an SOS Children's Village family, empowering them to live their own lives in self-reliance and on the basis of accepted values, integrating them into society and supporting them on their way to a secure future. SOS Children's Villages Poland is a part of SOS Children's Villages International.

SOS Childrens Villages Somalia is part of SOS Childrens Villages International, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that is not for profit, non-sectarian and non-partisan and which has been in existence since 1985. Currently, SOS Childrens Villages Somalia manages one Village, a kindergarten, a primary school and secondary school in Mogadishu. In addition to these education facilities, SOS also manages Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) in the country as well as Health and Nutrition programmes.
