Established in 2005, School of Music and the Arts (SOMA) is a premier music institution in Singapore, focusing on contemporary music performance and career skills in Songwriting, Music Production and Audio Engineering. Registered with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) in Singapore, SOMA continues to offer a world-class education centered on practical skills and relevant technologies for today’s music professionals. To ensure we deliver a World Class Education, SOMA hires only the best instructors in the region – they are either graduates from the renowned Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) or well-known professionals in the music industry who have worked with international artistes including Stefanie Sun, JJ Lin, Jacky Cheung, Michael Learns To Rock, Stereophonics, A*mei, Jeremy Monteiro, and Angela Zhang. These highly qualified instructors are carefully selected to effectively impart their knowledge and skills, and at the same time, share real-world scenarios with students based on their vast performing and production experiences. SOMA strives to provide students with the ideal learning environment – a careful balance of both structure and creativity. Performing opportunities, internships and industry attachments, excursions to concerts and recording studios, and master classes by visiting artistes are just some of the activities organized for students to learn beyond the classroom. More than a music school, SOMA continues to redefine music education in Singapore by reinventing teaching approaches, redeveloping existing curriculum to remain relevant to today’s industry demands, and encouraging creativity and innovation in students, with the goal of producing future leaders in the arts community.

The School of Planning and Architecture had a modest beginning in 1941 as a Department of Architecture of Delhi Polytechnic. It was later affiliated to the University of Delhi and integrated with the School of Town and Country Planning which was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning. On integration, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture in 1959. Recognizing the specialized nature of the fields in which the School had attained eminence, in 1979, the Government of India, through the then Ministry of Education and Culture, conferred on the School of Planning and Architecture the status of "Deemed to be a University". With this new status, the School has broadened its horizon by introducing new academic and extension programmes and promoting research and consultancy activities. A site of 20 acres has recently been acquired south of JNU for developing a new campus. Another 20 acres of land adjoining this site is expected to be allotted to the School. A development plan for the new campus is being prepared.

At the SPL we prepare graduates for leading roles in public and civic organisations to tackle development and governance challenges.Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge, competencies and values required to build sustainable African societies within a rapidly changing and complex world. Emphasis is placed on the ability of graduates to craft and facilitate an open civic public realm wherein dialogue and contestation can thrive thanks to a culture of tolerance, modisty, solidarity and compassion. To this end, the SPL's teaching, research, consulting and community interaction are designed to foster excellence, social entrepreneurship, reflexive leadership and effective management. We excel in developing the competencies needed to work within complex, multidisciplinary networks and diverse operating environments.
