The Bureau previously operated under the Standards Act, CAP. 416 of 1994 which came to an end on 31st December 2017 and gave way to the Standards Act No. 4 of 2017 which came into effect on 1st January 2018. Following the restructuring, ZABS is now a friend of industry offering voluntary services aimed at creating opportunities for the growth, advancement and business excellence of the Zambian Industry.
