Åhus Hamn är en av södra Sveriges mest betydande bulkhamnar och är sydöstra Sveriges största containerhamn. Våra stora affärsområden är bulk- och containerhantering samt magasinsuthyrning. Bulkhanteringen står för drygt 70 % av den totalt hanterade volymen. Inom hamnområdet verkar flera stora företag, The Absolut Company, Lantmännen Ek För, Knauf Danogips GmbH, Svenska Foder AB, Yara AB, Akzo Nobel Chemicals AB och KLF. Med hamnens geografiska läge är det lätt för fartyg att anlöpa kaj och med magasinsbyggnader och containerterminal i direkt anslutning kan lossnings- och lastningsarbeten utföras rationellt. Åhus Hamns historia Åhus har alltsedan 1100-talet varit en handelsplats med hamn. På ett av de äldsta sjökort som finns, upprättat av italienaren Angelino Dalorto år 1330, finns Åhus utprickat. Under 1500-talet fick Åhus och hamnen en framskjuten plats och 1539 blev staden centrum för det östskånska fisket. Byggandet av Kristianstad medförde en livlig sjöfart i hamnen där det importerade byggnadsmaterialet fick lastas om. En viss mattning av sjöfarten inträdde i början av 1700-talet, bottennoteringen inträffade 1716-1718 då inte ett enda främmande fartyg anlöpte hamnen. Den obefintliga sjöfarten fortsatte in på 1800-talets början. 1840-41 rustades den omoderna hamnen upp. Den upprustade hamnen fick av Kongl. Maj:t en ny Hamnordning, utfärdad den 8 september 1852. På andra halvan av 1800-talet skedde ytterligare förbättringar av hamnen. Under åren 1895–1897 skedde ett omfattande ombyggnadsarbete då inseglingsrännan blev både bredare och rakare. Sysselsättningen ökade i takt med tilltagande hamntrafik och 1894 bildade ett trettiotal arbetare den första fackföreningen i Åhus.
