The mission of the Arkansas Sheriffs Youth Ranches is to provide safe, healthy, and loving care for children who need a place to call home. But the Ranch is much more than a warm bed and three meals a day. Its also a place where boys and girls get a second chance to be a kid and a place where a child can grow into a loving, caring, and responsible adult. The Ranch was founded in 1976 by a group of concerned sheriffs as a shelter for boys. What began with one mobile home in Independence County has now grown to three residential campuses providing homes for boys and girls, two of which are working ranches. Children come to the Ranch because they need a place to call home. Some have been abandoned, abused, and neglected. Others may come from families who through difficult circumstances can no longer care for their child. We provide these boys and girls with what we believe is the birthright of every childthe right to health care, educational opportunities, and a loving, safe home environment with people who carenot only for thembut about them, as well. There is no up-and-out policy at the Ranch. We support each childs educational dreams by helping them attend college, vocational or technical training, or an apprenticeship program. No matter how long a child stays, the Ranch will be a place of stability and caring support. For more information, visit www.YouthRanches.com.
government administration
About the Office As one of Arkansas's seven constitutional officers, the Auditor of State plays a very important role in the day to day business of state government. The Auditor is the general accountant for the State and serves as the payroll officer for the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches. In addition to these duties, the Auditor administers Arkansass Unclaimed Property (UCP) program, formerly called The Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt. Through the program, our office connects state residents with their unclaimed property and allows current and past residents to collect their property at any time.
The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas is the leading voice for business at the State Capitol and serves as the primary business advocate on all issues affecting Arkansas employers. Our mission is to promote a pro-business, free-enterprise agenda and prevent anti-business legislation, regulations and rules. We work on issues that affect state businesses and their employees around the clock. In Washington, D.C. and right here at home. The State Chamber is the advocate for business on issues such as tax reform, immigration reform, health care, regulatory issues, education and workers’ compensation. Supporting the State Chamber is an investment in Arkansas’s future. By working with the State Chamber, businesses unite and achieve goals that simply would not be possible if each were working alone. The State Chamber understands that a competitive business environment is not possible without an educated and competitive workforce. Workforce development is a substantial and worthy undertaking, and continues to be a priority for us. Now more than ever, business matters to our nation’s future. Business must have a friendly environment to insure our future economic prospects. In the global economy, our competitive capacity must be all it can possibly be – and the State Chamber works every day to make that happen. We encourage you to join us. We need your support. Help us continue to make a difference for Arkansas.
