AUS NIGUARDA ONLUS was founded in 1998 in order to support the creation of the Spinal Unit of Niguarda, for which it drew up the project and obtained the grant from Regione Lombardia. Today AUS Niguarda Onlus works side by side with the Spinal Unit, where its headquarter is. ACTIVITIES AUS Niguarda Onlus supports activities and services which try to combine rehabilitation with the patients' full social integration. AUS offers support and information not only to patients, but also to every people with SCI and their families on each aspect that affects the quality of life of the para-quadriplegics: - psychosocial support by counseling service for patients and their families, since their hospitalization until their - discharge - social work for foreign patients - explanation of laws and rights protecting the disabled - accessibility and architectural barriers - sport activities (sport therapy in the spinal unit during hospitalization and amateur/competitive sports' training for any para-quadriplegic interested in - independence and leisure time AUS also organizes conventions and workshops on global rehabilitation of the people with SCI.
