Aerofoil Energy Ltd is an innovative technology company that develops and markets energy saving equipment for supermarket multi-deck refrigeration cabinets. In 2013 the company invented the profiled Aerofoil blade that attaches to the end of shelves in refrigerators to save energy. In 2015 we entered into partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering Ltd whose engineering specialists lent their aerodynamics expertise to the refinement of Aerofoil technology. Aerofoil technology works by straightening cold air curtains, thereby reducing cold air spill and cold aisle syndrome. This improves the energy efficiency of the refrigeration cabinet by up to 40%. It also lowers product temperatures, reducing shrinkage and related food waste. Aerofoils can be retro-fitted in situ without the need to demerchandise, and can be specified for new-build. Aerofoils are therefore a consumer-friendly and barrier-free alternative to glass doors. We have been rolling out Aerofoil technology in stores across the UK. Our customers now include major global retail groups, refrigeration manufacturers and energy consultancy companies. The Aerofoil product has won multiple awards and was a 2018 finalist with the Royal Academy of Engineering for their MacRobert Award, the UKs most prestigious and longest-running engineering prize. In 2017, we launched our Vortex project with a team of highly-skilled practitioners with over 150 years of combined industry expertise. Together with Williams Advanced Engineering, we have deployed some of the worlds most advanced R&D technologies, including high-fidelity computational fluid dynamic modelling and independent EN23953 laboratory testing. Our new suite of Vortex technology addresses some of the key energy performance losses in multi-deck cabinets, as well as developing horizontal innovations for added retail impact. We maintain a full portfolio of patents, design registrations and trade-marks around our intellectual property.
