Harrogate Neighbours

Our story begins back in the late 1960s. The churches throughout Harrogate wanted to provide a care home for local elderly people who needed support but could not afford private care. They formed a charity and registered it as Harrogate Neighbours Housing Association, the name we still use today. In early 1969, the charity purchased a property in Harrogate town centre and Heath Lodge was formed. The property was altered and extended and in December 1970 the first residents moved in. Within a month, all 30 rooms were filled. In 1976, a second property was purchased and developed. The work on Greenfield Court was completed in 1978. Both properties provided a high level of service for Harrogate’s elderly people and continue to do so today. Harrogate Neighbours Today Throughout the decades, we have built on our strong foundations and continued the mission to provide quality services for the elderly. Our services have expanded to include home care and a hot meal delivery service. We believe that older people should be treated with respect and dignity. Our dedicated team work tirelessly to ensure that we deliver quality care services and excellent value. Flexibility is vital in what we do. Many elderly people still want independence and choice and we are very careful not to restrict that. Our residents have a lot of freedom; we want them to feel at home not in a home. We treat them like family. For those who want to remain in their own home, we provide the support they need to do this. For some, it is simply having a nutritious meal delivered every day and a five-minute chat. Some people need help washing and dressing. Some need help with household chores or shopping. Whatever is needed, we provide it. Every single member of our team is dedicated to providing quality care. We do not compromise on health and safety or training standards. It is our attention to detail that allows us to deliver the high level of service that we do.
